Dual Pixel CMOS Auto Focus

With the RF mount at the heart of the EOS C70 providing the perfect balance of optical, mechanical and electronic engineering, filmmakers can now benefit from the unrivalled optical designs, faster autofocus and communication between camera and lens afforded by the RF technology. With this revolutionary RF data communication system, the existing DPAF technology is pushed to the next level.

To further fine tune AF performance, the EOS C70 offers the ability to set the AF tracking speed and response.

A newly designed Direct Touch user interface offers quick control of onscreen settings, adjustment of various parameters, as well as start/stop recording. All with a touch of a finger.

Dual Pixel Focus Guide

Dual Pixel CMOS AF phase-difference technology provides an innovative graphical guide that represents front/back focus deviation. The rectangle turns green when the subject is in focus, improving usability and accuracy when manual focus pulling. This is especially useful for critical focusing in 4K.

(Intelligent Tracking & Recognition)

The EOS C70 uses an Intelligent Tracking and Recognition system, based on a deep-learning algorithm for highly accurate face tracking, even when the subject is facing away from the camera.

Face Priority AF / Face Limited AF

Working together with Canon Face Detection technology, Dual Pixel CMOS AF is excellent at automatically recognising a face and tracking it while it moves.

Detection AF

Thanks to Canon's Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology, every pixel in the sensor can be used for both imaging and AF, which means the AF can acquire and track subjects – such as the subject’s eyes – providing sharp critical focus, even with a shallow depth of field.

Face and Eye Detection AF during Slow and Fast (S&F) Shooting Modes

Face detection AF can track a person’s face in the frame and maintain focus on them. Thanks to the new firmware, Face detection AF and Eye Detection AF are now possible in Slow and Fast Shooting modes, from 24-120P.
