Based in Dubai, UAE, Canon has a strong history of presence in the region. For over 40 years, it was represented in the Middle East through distributors and partners that helped Canon in securing a strong customer base and significant market share in the region. The inception of CME brought Canon closer to its customers and adds value to its partners.
CME added Egypt, as part of its markets in 2004. A representative office was subsequently established in Cairo, followed by the transfer of 21 countries in Maghreb and West Africa to CME in 2005.
CME continued to strengthen its presence in Africa with the opening of a local office in Morocco, transferring under its remit the East Africa territory in 2011 and also establishing an office in Kenya in 2012.
In 2015 the company established Canon Central and North Africa (CCNA) within CME as a strategic step to enhance Canon’s business within the Africa region-- by strengthening Canon’s in-country presence and focus.
To underline its industry leadership in the UAE, CME established Canon Emirates in 2007, as a subsidiary that aimed to consolidate and reinforce Canon’s leading position in the country through an integrated structure. Over the past years, Canon Emirates has established itself as a market leader bringing innovative and diverse solutions to its customers. In 2015, CME further upgraded its Abu Dhabi branch office and opened a dedicated business solutions showroom, which provides customers the opportunity to receive hands-on advice on products and services from Canon professionals.
Leveraging the positive growth opportunities in the region, CME strengthened its position in Qatar in 2015 with the opening a new company. This enhanced Canon’s in-country presence and demonstrated its commitment to operating closer to customers and meeting their demands by diversifying its business offering in solutions and services. The company now accelerates Canon’s growth in the rapidly evolving Qatari market.
Canon Middle East today manages sales, marketing and technical support activities across 12 countries in the Middle East and has 286 employees including Canon Emirates and Canon in Qatar employees.
CME is committed to Canon’s corporate philosophy of Kyosei – ‘living and working together for the common good’. It pursues sustainable business growth, focusing on reducing its environmental impact and supporting customers to reduce theirs using Canon’s products, solutions and services. Canon has achieved global certification to ISO 14001, demonstrating a world-class environmental management standard.
