Create your one-of-a-kind wedding with personalised printing

Everyone wants their wedding to be special, and often that means coming up with creative ideas to express your individuality or fun ways to include your guests in the celebrations. "There's been a big shift towards intimate or 'micro' weddings that are über-personalised to match the couple's style and personalities," says Carrie Schwab, editor-in-chief of Junebug Weddings, a wedding planning resource for creative couples. Whether it's home-printed invitations, banners, guest books or other must-have memorabilia, there are multiple ways to add personality to your wedding through print, either before, during or after the big day.

1. Printed invitations

Printing your own invitations is a great way to personalise your big day while saving money in your planning process. Canon Double-sided Matte Paper MP-101D is pre-folded and comes with envelopes.

Mixed metal, geometric graphics and soft pastels were key trends in 2019 but Carrie predicts a shift towards less fussy designs in 2020. "Minimalism is very 'in' right now," she says. "We are seeing many couples start their internet searches with 'simple wedding' and then the item they are looking for. Think clean lines and black and white."
If minimalism isn't for you, another key trend for 2020 is foliage, from delicate palm fronds to lush tropical leaves. The Canon PIXMA TS9541C has 45 built-in patterns you can incorporate into your invitations and supports 12x12-inch cardstock as well as 7x10-inch double sided matte paper, which is supplied with envelopes. "Using a home printer can help couples with costs too," adds Carrie.

2. Photobooth props and banners

Using Creative Park, you can find a variety of decorations to suit your day, print them yourself and add a customised touch to your decor. This will not only make your day unique and put you apart from the rest, but save money in hiring decorations.

If you're planning a photo booth for your big day, why not create your own props? You'll find some great ideas on Creative Park, Canon's free source for paper craft materials, which you can print using the Canon PIXMA TS9541C. The Photo Booth Props (Wedding) set includes a tiara, comedy glasses and banners for comedy snaps. Or you could have a go at creating your own Mr & Mrs banners to string up at the venue. The templates all come with clear instructions on how to assemble them.
Ensure your guests don't get lost with the help of sign templates and name cards, also from the Creative Park App. Download the templates and print onto A4 Matte Photo Paper.

A guest book is a great way to look back on your wedding day and see all your personal messages from friends and family. The Canon Zoemini S2 produces instant sticky-backed prints, so your guests can put them straight into the book. It can also print a picture more than once, so that's one for the book and one for your guests to take home as a souvenir.

Continuing the personalised theme, how about incorporating print into the celebrations with an instant-print camera such as the Canon Zoemini S. Its built-in mirror and ring light are perfect for selfies, and its ability to connect via the Canon Mini Print app and use the app's self-timer setting and remote shutter means bigger groups are taken care of too. Leave a Canon Zoemini S on a dedicated table and invite every guest to take a picture with it. Encourage guests to try out a frame, slip on a filter or add their own doodles for a more original touch. Or ask them to print in square format so they can add a funny caption or personal note at the bottom of the sticky printout.
You could decorate a scrapbook with ribbon stickers printed from Creative Park and fill it with your guest photos to create a special keepsake to treasure forever.

4. Bespoke decorations

Using the Canon Zoemini S2 or Canon SELPHY Square QX10 you can take pictures from your phone, print them and decorate with style.

You could also use a Canon Zoemini S or a Canon Selphy Square QX10 mobile printer to create custom decorations. Ask your guests to attach their photos to ribbon you've strung around trees adorned with fairy lights, or to peg them to a length of string you've hung across wooden pallets. "Couples are seeking to put extra care into the personality or 'brand' of their wedding," says Carrie. "Homemade decor and other elements are definitely becoming more popular."

5. Wedding prints

Printing your own wedding pictures is a great way to save money. With the Canon PIXMA TS9540, you can get quality prints at an affordable price. Plus, there's no waiting around – you can print your shots straight away.

The Canon PIXMA TS9541C can print a 4x6-inch photograph in just 21 seconds with inks that reproduce highly detailed pictures with up to 100-year album life, so you can select your favourite shots to share with friends and relatives or to put into frames at home. It can also handle a range of other paper types including envelopes, stickers and magnetic photo paper, so you could create bespoke stickers or fridge magnets to send to your guests as thank-you gifts and mementoes. You can effortlessly print, scan and copy from your smart device with the Canon PRINT app, or print without any additional apps with AirPrint (iOS) and Mopria (Android) compatibility.
