CANON EOS R5

Get yourself connected

The EOS R5 is one of the most connected cameras we’ve ever made, with the ability to transmit image files via your smart device or Wi-Fi network to your clients, social media profiles or even to cloud accounts back home via our image.canon service.

Super stable, super fast

The EOS R5 can form faster, more stable wireless connections, thanks to built-in dual-band 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and support for 802.11a, b, g, n and 802.11ac standards. An always-on Bluetooth Low Energy connection keeps the camera connected to smart devices, allowing images to be browsed from, edited with and transmitted on phones and tablets from location.

The camera can use Wi-Fi to communicate with smart devices, upload images to the cloud via the image.canon gateway or send images directly by FTP.

Camera Connect App

Get your digital workflow started on the road, before you get back from your shoot. Launch the Canon Camera Connect app on your smartphone or tablet and the EOS R5 will connect automatically using Wi-Fi, allowing users to browse the contents of the camera’s memory card and transfer images for editing with the Canon Digital Photo Professional app or for sharing.

It’s also possible to configure the EOS R5 for Auto Image Transfer, so that images are sent automatically to your smart device as you shoot.

The app also allows photographers to control their EOS R5 cameras wirelessly – for stills and video. Select where to focus, adjust exposure and see what your camera sees using remote Live View, allowing wireless shooting from hard-to-reach angles.

image.canon

Canon’s new cloud photography service, image.canon, allows users to store an unlimited number of photos, including RAW files, on-line for up to 30 days. Image files can then be moved to Google Drive, Adobe’s Creative Cloud or local off-line storage.

The EOS R5 is the first EOS that allows images to upload automatically to the image.canon cloud, so they’ll be ready and waiting for you on your synchronised PC/Mac computer when you return from a shoot.

FTP

For professional photographers with a need to deliver photos directly to clients quickly and securely from location, the EOS R5 offers built in FTP and FTPS using the camera’s built-in Wi-Fi. FTP settings can be configured in-camera or off-line using EOS Utility software, and up to 10 presets saved for instant recall.

An optional WFT-R10 Wi-Fi grip is available for the EOS R5, which also features a gigabit ethernet connection for wired network connections and adds MIMO antennas for longer range Wi-Fi with less interference. Secure image transmission by SFTP is also added.

When photos are rated or tagged with a voice memo, this metadata can be transmitted alongside the image files – invaluable information for picture editors and agency staff.

FTP Transfer Status Display
This display, requested by news and sports photographers when sending images via FTP, shows how long it will take to send the images. This enables photographers to make an informed decision regarding remaining where they are and finishing the transfer or seeking a faster connection elsewhere.

Protect image transfer
Useful for many news and sports photographers is the option to automatically “protect” images which have been sent to a FTP server. Protecting images means they are locked and can’t be accidentally deleted and are easily to identify which images were sent to a client, when they are all transferred to your computer after the shoot.

For total control of FTP capabilities and ability to add IPTC data and voice memos to images Canon Mobile File Transfer app expands the FTP capabilities of your camera using your smartphone.
