Canon Europe to launch online education hub for eyecare professionals at World Ophthalmology Congress 2018

LONDON, 07 June 2018 – Canon Europe, leader in imaging solutions, is launching an online education hub for eyecare professionals and is running its first optical coherence tomography (OCT) symposium at The World Ophthalmology Congress, taking place in Barcelona from 16-19 June 2018.

Canon OCT Symposium
The symposium titled “current and future clinical applications with Canon OCT” will be held on Monday 18th June, from 18.00-20:00. Renowned speakers will present unique clinical cases and show the extensive clinical applications possible with the Canon OCT-HS100 and the Canon Angio Expert software module. These speakers include:

  • Professor Kyoko Ohno-Matsui of Tokyo Medical and Dental University who will speak about the clinical results obtained with a prototype ultra-wide-field Canon SS-OCT
  • Dr Sal Rassam is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon and will speak about incorporating OCTA in clinical practice
  • Dr Diana Iturralde Errea of Alto Deba Hospital in Spain, will present on improvements on choroidal visualisation with Angio OCT, in regards to traditional ICG and FA in macular degeneration
  • Professor Tomohiro Iida of Tokyo Women’s Medical University will speak about state-of-the art OCTA imaging

Canon’s new education hub for eyecare professionals
Canon Europe is proud to launch a new community website where users of a Canon OCT will have access to a wide range of educational material relating to the technology. The new website will help ensure users can make the most of their instrument through content including clinical case studies, podcasts, priority registration for symposia and webinars, as well as live education sessions during events in Europe. There are already plans to evolve the platform to become a truly interactive community, where all users can share their experiences.
