PRINTING

Set yourself free with a wireless and cloud-enabled printer

Every office and classroom needs a printer – and as times change, and more of us choose to work and study remotely, every home needs one too. One of the nicest things about working from home is that you can work in whatever room suits your mood. Adding a wireless and cloud-enabled printer to your home means you don't need to be sat next to your printer – you can print from anywhere you like. So if you want to stay near your kitchen coffee pot in the morning and move out to the garden for some afternoon sunshine, you can. Send your documents to print whenever you're ready and then pick them up when you feel like it.

Wireless printing means you don't have to be sat next to your printer, you don't have to have a dedicated home office space, and you can work where you want.

Worried that a wireless printer is difficult to set up? Don't be – it's very straightforward. And once you're set up, there are a range of helpful benefits to ensure your work/study routine is never interrupted. For example, the PIXMA G4411 has refillable ink tanks that deliver high page yield, allowing you to print thousands of documents without refiling. Plus, thanks to PIXMA Cloud Link you can view, print and scan documents and photos from the printer screen or your smartphone or tablet using the Canon PRINT app. PIXMA Cloud Link also lets you print from and scan to online storage services such as Dropbox and Google Drive, and share documents with ease. For more information on how to set up your wireless printer, refer to the support guide.

The benefits of using a wireless printer for home working

It can be easier to understand complicated or detailed information from a printout rather than a monitor.

As well as being useful for producing letters and labels for day-to-day business, a printer can help you be more productive and effective. Reading a printout means you're much less likely to be distracted by on-screen notifications or incoming emails. It's also worth remembering that your eyes need a break from the screen.

Rosie, an accountant, finds her wireless printer an invaluable tool when she's working from home. She explains: "I regularly look at financial reports and spreadsheets, and I find the information far easier to digest in print form than on-screen. Although we have an office at home, there are two of us, which means that one of us is always working from the dining room table. It's helpful to be able to print wirelessly from wherever I'm sitting."

Sometimes a printout is useful for helping you to appreciate the size or scale of a project.

Estelle, a marketing manager, regularly hosts webinars and she always prints her introduction script. "When I'm in the office I have two screens, but at home I just have one, so I print off my script to read at the start of each webinar. With four of us in the house, it's really helpful to have a wireless printer so we can print from any room. I also love that I can print direct from my phone if I want."

Simon is a graphic designer who wouldn't want to be without his wireless printer. He explains: "As a rule, I print out a project brief to read, especially if it's complicated, and I'm normally armed with a highlighter pen. And when I'm processing a print design, I always print the project to proof it and to see it in scale - that's an important step because it's easy to lose a sense of scale, especially if you work on a big monitor."

A vital tool for school and college students

PIXMA Cloud Link also supports Google Classroom, which makes it easier for students to stay in touch with their teachers while studying at home.

It's not just professionals who benefit from having a wireless printer at home. PIXMA Cloud Link also supports Google Classroom, which means it's useful for school and college students. Google Classroom is designed to assist communication between teachers and students. Using PIXMA Cloud Link with Google Classroom means students can print lists of the classes they're taking, and print assignments directly from the printer screen or from their smart device via the Canon PRINT app. An additional benefit for teachers is that they can easily print class rosters to show the members of a selected class.

A wireless printer is a valuable tool for school and college students, who can use it to print out assignments or final-check their work.

Fifteen-year-old student Jamie says: "I usually print my assignments because it helps me remember the key points I need to cover, and I always print my essays after I've finished writing them. Then I'll take a break, maybe kick a ball around or do something else for a while, before sitting down to read my essay properly. I use a red pen to mark any mistakes so I can correct them before I upload everything for my teacher to see. Reading the print is a really important step for me – I spot all sorts of things that I don't see on the screen, so it helps me get better marks and keeps me in mum and dad's good books!"
